Cooking is much more pleasant in convenient, reliable, and beautiful dishes, but sometimes it is difficult to understand which one is better to buy so that it meets all the high requirements of a modern housewife.
The service life of kitchen utensils depends on many factors. First of all, this is its original quality – it is better to choose dishes from well-known manufacturers, and not spontaneously buy in the nearest store. Secondly, you need to take into account the properties of the material from which it is made, and thirdly, be able to properly care for it. For example, if it’s chinaware, then it will be long-lasting but it still requires extra care while using.
We will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of dishes made of various materials, but you just have to choose the best one.
Aluminum cookware
A few advantages of aluminum cookware are lightweight, low cost, and relative durability. It is great for boiling milk and cooking cereals, cooking non-acidic vegetables, pasta.
However, due to the fact that aluminum utensils do not like contact with acids and alkalis, you should not cook cabbage soup, kissels, dishes in sweet and sour sauces in it. After preparing the dish, it must immediately be transferred to another container, since it is impossible to store food in aluminum dishes!
Cast iron cookware
Cast iron cookware is considered the most durable. Sometimes an additional enamel coating is applied to it. Cast iron cookware heats up slowly, but keeps heat for a long time; metal appliances can be used when cooking. In such dishes – for example, in cast-iron pots and goose bowls – it is good to cook stews, pilaf, and meat, fry, and bake pancakes in pans.
However, there are enough disadvantages of cast iron cookware. Firstly, it is quite heavy, and secondly, it requires special care: it must be calcined from time to time, and it is also difficult to store: be sure to wipe dry and lubricate with vegetable oil, otherwise the rust will appear.
Stainless steel
Steel cookware is one of the most durable, wear-resistant, and unpretentious, and besides, it is simply beautiful. It can be used at high temperatures, it is not afraid of corrosion, and most importantly, it is safe for health. You can cook anything in steel utensils, and the alloy does not affect the taste of the dish, and after that, it is easy to clean.
The disadvantages can only be attributed to its low thermal conductivity, but this problem is easily solved due to the multilayer bottom with aluminum inserts.
Ceramic tableware
Ceramic cookware has excellent non-stick properties, heats evenly, and is easy to clean. According to the manufacturers, it can cook at high temperatures and use metal cutlery.
It is said that cooking in ceramic utensils provides a special flavor to the food. Moreover, you can cook both in the oven and in the microwave.
Glassware
Refractory glassware has almost no drawbacks. It is beautiful, absorbs heat well and does not cool down for a long time, does not come into contact with food, and washes well. It can be used in the oven and microwave, and if the shape and size of the bottom match the burner, cook in it on the stove.
Sometimes the glass breaks or breaks, so do not drop the dishes, do not let the liquid boil away, avoid contact of a hot pan with cold water. In other words, when using such dishes, sudden changes in temperature should be avoided.
